Product Overview
The class meets weekly for 4-6 weeks, starting Sunday, May 19th (subject to change). Class size limited.
Classes will take place at Bee-Commerce located at 160A Sugar Street, Newtown, CT starting at 2pm and will run about 2 hours.
We will have a lesson and discussion about the day’s topics followed by hands on queen-rearing activities.
The fee includes instruction and use of shop supplies and colonies to practice grafting and raising queens as part of the class.
Participants will take home queens they’ve raised ... and named.
Queen-rearing supplies are available for purchase separately so you can start raising queens in your own bee yard.

May 19th: Overview, Basics, Cloake Board System, Practice Grafting Larva
May 26th: Genetics, Heredity, Cloake Board Setup, Graft Larva
June 2nd: Other Methods, Splits, Setting Up Mating Nucs, Starter/Finisher Maintenance, More Grafting
June 9th: Care of Queen Cells & Virgins, Tending Mating Nucs, Practice Marking Bees
June 16th: (If needed)
Equipment will be provided for class use, and also available for purchase.
